2009_03_30 Balzar Week 23 Mom

Mom wrote on Monday, Mar 2009 00:48:10 -0600

How did you lose your Censo? Tell me the truth. Did you get robbed again? Did they take your wallet? I just can't imagine how else you would lose something so important. Please explain in detail.

I was in a bus and my white bible with my Censo and twenty dollars fell out of my pocket in the seat. That is how I lost my Censo.

Which CDs of music does Elder Alcocer like best?

(no answer)

Which elders did you eat with in Guayaquil? Why were they down in Guayaquil that day?

Elder Abriel and Elder Williams were in Guayaquil, but we ended up not eating with them, but they were there to take Elder Nordgran to the office, because he is the new Secretary of the Mission.

Why do they call the Secretary of Materials the Pouch Monkey? Is that a term used for everyone who holds that position or just his particular Elder?

That is the term that everyone uses for the name of the secretary of materials, not just this one, all of them.

Are you happy?

Yes

Are you healthy?

Yes

How is your stomach doing? Do you still have diarrhea?

I am doing much better.

How are your feet doing? Are your shoes still in good shape?

Yeah my feet are fine. They don´t hurt, so I don´t do anything to them. If it isn´t broke, don´t fix it.

Are you taking allergy medicine now or doing okay without it?

No, I am doing fine without it.

Are you taking your vitamins each day?

No, but the abundant rice I am eating every day has tons of vitamins and minerals that the body needs, so I am fine.

Are the mosquitos getting bad yet?

No, they aren´t.

Have you sent me a CD of photos? A letter? A card?

No, no and no.

How are you coming on memorizing all of the scriptures?

It is coming a little slow, but it is coming.

How are Rony and Ginger doing?

They aren´t progressing. They did get married, but we have dropped them for now as investigators.

How are Ricardo and Maria doing? Did Ricardo get prepared to perform the baptism of his daughter? Has that happened yet?

The baptism will be in May. They are working on it. They aren’t coming to church every week, so we are working on that right now.

How is your branch in Relicario doing?

They are doing good, no problems.

Has Mariella made any progress towards getting baptized?

No. We dropped Mariella, too. She stopped progressing when we told her she needed to get married or leave the house she was living in.

I love you so much and I am so very proud of you.

Love always and forever,

Mom

2009_01_12 Week 12 Balzar Mom

I am in Balzar still. Elder Bejar got transferred. He is in Pasquales now. He is opening a sector that was closed and he is training a new missionary, too. My new companion is Elder Acoster of Peru. He was pouchero before I started my mission. This will be his last sector, because he finishes his mission in three cambios. We had to get up at 5 this morning and leave for Guayaquil at 6. We got to the bus terminal in Guayquil at 8:30 and met with tons of missionaries. And then the Assistants bought bus tickets and we left for Balzar and now we are in Balzar once again.

Yes, I have found many crickets in our house, the stinken' buggers. I don´t know where they are entering from, but they keep coming in. I also encountered a colony of ants behind our bulletin board in the house. That was fun to kill them all and clean up. I also encountered a grasshopper that is four inches long and stands about two or three inches tall. They are huge.

Things are going good. We don´t have any baptisms planned, but we are teaching lots of people trying to find people to baptize.

Okay. The bus to Guayaquil must have been a lot faster than your first trip out if you made it in only 2 1/2 hours. I was expecting a 4 hour ride again. Who are the new Assistants to the President? Tell us more about your new companion. What do you think of him so far?

Sorry about the bugs. I am glad you have not been complaining though.

Our first trip, the bus went slow, because it was prime hours for picking people up. My companion is good. He knows how to fix electronics very well. Maybe he can fix our two broken fans in the house? He seems like a good Elder. I have only heard good things about him. The new Assistants are Elder Rouson, he was put in the other transfer and now to replace Elder Bryan, Elder Fuentemavida. He trained Elder Walke.

That is awesome. Elder Walke has only had good stuff to say about Elder Fuentemavida. What is your companion's first name? Where in Peru is he from. Has he been a member his whole life or is he a convert? Tell us about his family and his schooling. Was he going to college to learn the electronics?

I don´t know much of that stuff yet, but I will ask and get back to you next week, but I do know that he knows how to fix things because he worked before the mission fixing things. Oh, he is twenty seven years old. Well I have to go. I love you lots. Bye.

Have a great week. I hope you can write more next week. We love you lots.

2008_12_15 Week 8 Balzar Dad

Dad emailed on Monday, December 15, 2008
Curtis emailed back that same day.

Dear Curtis

How was your week? Did you have some baptisms this week? Kavin did not go hunting with us on Wednesday. Todd asked his friend Phil to go with us. It was the best day of hunting we have had this year. It would have been good for Kavin to have gone. He would have liked it.

Christmas is coming fast. Friday the 19th, is our last day of school, so we get two full weeks and three weekends off this year. When are you going to the temple this week? When do you leave to go and when are you getting back?

Clain went with Skyler Saturday Hunting out at Howard's Slew where you and Skyler go. It was snowing and windy. They got a few ducks. I am going to try to go hunting a couple of times over Christmas break.

I Love You and am proud of what you are doing.

Love, Dad

No we didn´t have any baptisms this week. We have one next Sunday. This week is crazy. We have to go to Quevedo Tuesday night and spend the night there and then Wednesday at 3 in the morning all of our zone and two others get on a bus for Guayaquil. We will get to Guayaquil about 7 inthe morning and then we go to the temple first thing. Then we have our zone conference after the temple in the temple hotel. And then we eat in the temple cafeteria and then leave and head back to Quevedo. spend the night in Quevedo again, go to our district meeting Thursday and then after we return to Quevedo. (I think he meant Balzar).

Love you lots,
Elder Goode

That sounds like a busy week. It should be a good one. How long are you going to be on today? I have to go do lunch duty in a few minutes.
